THE LONG AND THE SHORT AND THE TALL is an exceptional opportunity for cross-curricular studies. As enrichment to your GCSE and A-Level students’ study of Hall’s text and World War II, Creative First Theatre is proud to offer a dynamic workshop highlighting the key educational connections of ENGLISH, HISTORY, DRAMA and CITIZENSHIP.
The 90 minute workshop, run by a member of CREATIVE FIRST will include a combination of the following focus points:
STATUS
How the natural hierarchy
within a group is formed
How status affects behaviour and relationships within group dynamics
LANGUAGE EXPLORATION
How is language used
with direct reference to the play’s text
How character and period are explicated through Jargon and slang
THE AFFECTS OF WAR ON INDIVIDUALS
How war and individuals
are affected by morals, behaviour and judgement
EXPLORATION OF THE PLAY’S UNIVERSAL RESONANCE
How the timeless text
is still relevant today
BEYOND STEREOTYPE
How to explore the depth
of a character beyond the initial stereotypes represented in the play
One of our LAMDA-accredited workshop leaders will come to your school the morning of your performance date to work one-on-one with you students. Afterwards your students will attend a performance of THE LONG AND THE SHORT AND THE TALL presented by the critically-acclaimed CREATIVE FIRST THEATRE at the Pleasance Theatre in Islington, London. Additionally, all workshop participants are invited to attend a post-show Q&A with the actors and the director at the theatre.
